Traveling Through History to Experience Taiwan's Railway Charm

Not long ago, the Taiwan Railway Museum in Taipei officially opened. Railway enthusiasts of all ages eagerly visited the various exhibition areas to explore and experience. They not only viewed exhibitions to learn about the development and changes of Taiwan's railway construction, and rode trains inside the park to feel the joy of train operation, but also visited the maintenance workshop to observe the trains used in different eras in Taiwan and the corresponding maintenance methods.

Taiwan's railway construction has a long history. At the end of the 19th century, under the leadership of Liu Mingchuan, governor of Taiwan during the Qing dynasty, the first railway was built in Taiwan, laying the foundation for the island's modernization. After Taiwan's restoration in 1945, the local railway sector also developed rapidly, becoming an important infrastructure for transportation and industrial development on the island, and an indispensable part of the daily lives of many Taiwan residents.

In order to help more residents better understand railway operations and evoke memories of trains, relevant authorities in Taiwan, together with various counties and cities, have built railway museums or railway cultural parks using railway-related areas and old buildings, allowing people to experience the railway charm of the island up close.
